  1. 1. Born on a leap day?
    2. No idea. I give up.
    3. Oh, g-d, no. Fencepost errors all around! Augustus turned n years old in the year 63 – n BCE (1 in 63-1 = 62 BCE, 2 in 63-2 = 61 BCE, and so on). So in 1 BCE, he turned 62. There is no year zero, so he turned 63 in 1 CE. More generally, he turned 62 + n in the year n CE. So in 14 CE, he turned 62 + 14 = 86 years old? Again, fencepost errors…
    4. The square root of 1800 is about 42.4, and the square root of 1900 is about 43.6. The only integer between these is 43, hence de Morgan turned 43 in the year 43^2 = 1849. So he was born in 1806.
    5. Oh. There are spoilers. Nevermind. šŸ™

  2. I somehow misread ‘lived in the 1800s’ for ‘was born in the 1800s’ and figured De Morgan was born in 1892…
