This is an excellent post! As a teacher, this is how I feel about grades and all this data driven instruction. The numbers are students!
Thanks for giving me a fight song for the year. I know all of what you said to be true, but it is growing harder to stay strong in the face of admin and politicians and (sadly) parents and students who think numbers are what matters most.
