For “one in a million,” it works during fights, too. When I’m mad at my wife, I tell her she’s one in a million… which means there are 7,000 just like her, and she is easily replaceable. When I’m not mad at her, which is usually the case, I’m the probabilist above and pick a larger N.

I wish I found this for Valentines’ Day. My son is a math wiz and I always struggle to find meaningful gifts and cards for Valentines’ Day. These are briliant! Check out the post for ideas that you can use all year round!
This is really cool! I’m sharing many of these on my page (with due credit). I’m looking forward to reading your second book, already have the first one.

For any e>0 there exists an N>0 such than m,n> N ==> |a_n-a_m|<e, that would be Cauchy.
Also analyst: You make all my Cauchy sequences converge.
(Heard at a math poetry reading at the 2013 JMMs)
Which means: You make me complete! 🙂

In hyperbolic geometry, wouldn’t a line have infinite parallels? In spherical (parabolic) geometry, a line would have no parallels.
Yes, indeed! So I suppose the hyperbolic geometer is saying that “you” are not a hyperbolic line.
